The reason why we experience mental health issues can be hereditary, but may also be due to factors such as stress, financial worries or grief.
You can feel bad in many different ways
Some examples are:
- Dejection
- Worry
- Loneliness
- Sleep disorders
- Eating disorders
- Heavy consumption, dependency or hazardous use involving alcohol, narcotics or gambling
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Psychosis and delusions
- Suicidal thoughts
If you or someone in your surroundings experiences the above – do not wait. Ask for help as soon as you can. Below you will find good contact channels where you can get help:
Student Health Counselling
Student Health Counselling is Lund University's own department working with student mental health. On the their website you can book a time with a counsellor and read their self-help brochures.

Student Chaplains in Lund
The student chaplains (in Swedish) offer confidential conversations with students at Lund University, regardless of faith or philosophy of life. Some of them also educate others in Mental Health First Aid.

Call 1177
The Swedish Health Services 1177 has information regarding low mood, stress, depression, anxiety or experiencing PTSD. You can call 1177 on their number +46 771 1177 00 for advice on mental health issues.

Primary Healthcare
At your healthcare services centre you can get advice and help on all kinds of mental health issues. There is also information regarding how to seek psychiatric care in the region of Skåne.

Suicide Prevention Hotline
The Suicide Prevention Hotline is for those who have thoughts about taking their own lives or have someone close to them who has such thoughts. You can reach the hotline via telephone (call 90101), chat or email, 06:00–24:00 every day. You can remain anonymous. At Mind.se, you can also find information on mental health issues.

Fountain House
Fountain House Lund is a supportive community for people with varieties of mental health issues. We are operating from the fundamental values of Club House International, and are religiously and politically unbound. The Club House model is holistic, inclusive and democratic, accordingly it is based on participation and considers participants’ whole life situation.
We are aware that Lund has a large number of students suffering from isolation, strained economy, unfinished education and low self-esteem. “A Way Forward” is directed to university students that have, or are at risk of developing mental health issues.

Unga vuxna (Young Adults)
Unga vuxna is a consultation centre for those aged between 16 and 29 located in Lund.
Address: Magle Stora Kyrkogata 5 (in Lund), floor 3. The entrance is located on the backside of the house.
