Apply for student accommodation

LU Accommodation has two application periods per year; Spring and Autumn. Read more to learn when and how to apply.

Who can apply?

LU Accommodation provides accommodation to International students at Lund University. This includes both exchange students, tuition paying programme students and students arriving through other agreements or projects.

When can you apply?

LU Accommodation's application periods follow the cycle of admissions for exchange and master students each year. You can apply sometime during May and November each year. The period is open for about three weeks, which is followed by an allocation process that can vary in length. Find more on the following links:

How do you apply?

Logging in the first time will vary between program students and exchange students. Once you have gotten through the login, you can proceed with the FAQ Applications tutorial.

Fee-paying Programme Student

If you are a fee-paying international programme student, you should have received your Student ID login account before the application period starts. This is the same login you use for the student pages where you can pay your tuition fee. The system will create your account when you log in the first time.

If you are a programme student but not paying tuition, then you are not eligible for housing with us.

Exchange students and Study Abroad

If you are coming to Lund on some form of exchange programme, or exchange agreement with Lund University, then your application has probably at some point entered the SoleMOVE exchange application system. If this is the case, you should be able to find your SoleMOVE Exchange application number. Use this number and the email registered to you in SoleMOVE to create your account for the first time. Once you have filled in the right information, follow the instructions on the page.

Any subsequent log in is done through the normal housing account page using email as log in.

At some point before the start of the study semester, you should receive a Student ID login account. We will switch over for you to use this as a login once we have confirmed all people have received the information. Please use your email to log in until such time you hear from us that you can switch to using your student account.

Other students

The remaining students that are not covered by programme student, exchange student or study abroad agreements as described above fall into two categories: Other agreement students and non-agreement students.

Other agreements with the university

If you are here on an agreement with Lund University that is not described in the categories above, then you are most likely falling into this category. This can be students that are on double degrees, joint programs, or some form of scholarship. If you are not in Ladok or SoleMOVE by the time of the application process start, then we at LU Accommodation will have to create your account manually.

We should have already received your information from a coordinator here at the university, and we at LU Accommodation aims to have registered you and sent you a link to create a password at least one week before the application period starts. Please inform is via email if you have not received information about logging in.

Non-agreement students

If you are not here as an international programme student, exchange student or other agreement student, then you are most likely not eligible for housing with us. If you are still unsure, you can send an email to us and we will try to answer whether you are eligible. Please give as much information about what you are doing at LU for us to answer the question adequately.

Joining the queue

When the queue opens, you will have to press the "Join queue" button in the "Housing" menu item in your housing account. . How the application will look after that, with what we call "Allocation batches" can be found in the FAQ Application Tutorial.

Applying outside the application periods

In order to apply outside of the application periods, you need to contact LU Accommodation via e-mail for us to make sure you are eligible and can create your account. You will be added to our queue, but you will have to actively keep a lookout on your housing account, for when we put up batches with available housing.

If you missed the application period

If you miss the application period, you need to contact LU Accommodation via e-mail. Depending on the time of year you may still be considered in the allocation process, but you will always have lower priority than applicants who applied during the application period.
