Cleaning Charge and Fees

Depending on when your contract starts, you will either pay a cleaning charge upon arrival that covers a standard move-out cleaning or you are responsible for the move-out cleaning yourself.

Am I responsible for the move-out cleaning?

If your contract started on or after March 2026, you will be charged a one-time cleaning charge upon arrival that covers a standard move-out cleaning. The charge will cover a basic move-out cleaning, including vacuuming, mopping and wiping of surfaces. 

If your contract started before March 2026, you are responsible for the move-out cleaning. The accommodation is inspected upon your departure to make sure it is left in good condition. Insufficient cleaning will result in a fee.

Cleaning Charge

The cleaning charge for tenants with contracts that started on or after March 2026 will depend on the accommodation type. The cleaning charge is added to the first rent.

Cleaning Fees

Tenants whos contract started before March 2026 are responsible for carrying out their own move-out cleaning. Insufficient cleaning will result in a fee, see below for the amount. 

Two different cleaning companies have been procured by LU Accommodation from November 2020 to handle the cleaning needed in our rooms and apartments. Prices will therefore vary a bit between different areas and rooms and apartments dependent on the prices of the company responsible for that particular accommodation. Below you will find all our cleaning prices listed per housing area.

There are two prices per object: the price per a normal cleaning and the price for only minor issues.

Please note that it is the inspector from LU Accommodation who decides whether a room or apartment has been cleaned properly and the prices are not negotiable since they have been decided by public procurement.

If the cleaning of your room/apartment is not accepted during the final inspection the LU Accommodation inspection team will take pictures of the remaining issues and send a cleaning company to take care of the issues.

The prices above do not cover:

  • A room/apartment in need of sanitization. Any room left in a mess will require additional time for the cleaning company and the an additional fee will in such a case be added to your housing account.

  • Any damages in the apartment.
  • Late key fees.
