Extend your contract

If your contract period is shorter than 12 months (6 months in some housing areas) we might be able to extend your stay in your room/apartment. But only as long as your room/apartment is available. If the room/apartment is booked for another tenant we cannot provide you with an extension regardless of how long you have stayed in the room/apartment.

This is how it is done:

  1. Send an email to us (luacc [at] service [dot] lu [dot] se) and request an extension of your housing contract.
  2. Ask your host supervisor to confirm that you as a guest researcher will continue to be connected to their department during the months for which you want to extend your contract. Your host supervisor should confirm by sending us an email.
  3. Once we have confirmed your request, you will see all details in your housing account and we will send you an confirmation.

For how long can I stay with LU Accommodation?

Our apartments are provided as a first solution to guest researchers when arriving to Sweden. Because of this we are only allowed to provide housing for a maximum time of 12 months (or 6 months in some housing areas). As a guest researcher, if you plan to stay in Sweden for a period longer than the maximum time allowed at LU Accommodation, you will have to search for alternative housing on your own. We know that finding housing can be difficult and this is the reason you are provided with housing through LU Accommodation during your first 6 months/year. This will give you time to find somewhere else to live after your stay with us. We strongly recommend that if you are staying for a longer period you start searching for housing as soon as possible.

Lund University has a well made page with links to other housing opportunities in the area: Alternative Accommodation
