Internet connection at our housing areas

Internet is included in your rent. In most housing areas you need to connect with a network cable.

Wireless internet access is not offered as standard in our accommodation. Should you require a wireless internet connection in your room/apartment then you will need to buy a router from an electrical outlet. LU Accommodation does not sell routers to its tenants.

A short term solution to obtain internet on a smartphone or tablet without needing to buy a router or mobile data is to use the laptop as a wireless hotspot. These settings, available in the laptop, allow a laptop to act as Wi-Fi for other devices.

In this method, the laptop is connected to the network socket with a network cable and by enabling network settings on Windows or Mac OS X, the laptop will act as a wireless hotspot. Tutorials on how to enable these settings can be found online. Try searching for ‘laptop as a router’.

The internet provider differs between our housing areas. The name of the internet provider is noted on the housing information page for each housing area.

Examples of internet speeds at a selection of our housing areas

• Eddan: Between 100Mbps & 1Gbps via a cable connection.
• Sofieberg: 100Mbps via a cable connection.
• Östra Torn: 100Mbps via a Wi-Fi.
• Klostergården Student House: 100Mbps via a Wi-Fi.
