FAQ Waiting list
Waiting List for spring 2021 academic semester
Lund University strives to arrange accommodation for all new students but unfortunately we at LU Accommodation have a limited number of rooms and apartments and we will not be able to accommodate all new students arriving in Lund.
We will continue the allocation process as long as rooms become vacant, due to cancellations, but you can no longer rely entirely on LU Accommodation in your search for housing. We strongly recommend that you search for housing through all available means.
Please note that we will not be able to offer students precise information when it comes to their exact place on the waiting list. The reasons for this are explained on the page Will I get a room?
LU Accommodation will continue to update all applicants on our waiting list with additional information regarding ways of finding accommodation.
Alternative means of finding Accommodation:
We strongly recommend that you apply for accommodation through AF Bostäder.
AF Bostäder is the biggest student housing agency in Lund and you are welcome to apply for accommodation through their service. AF Bostäder will arrange an online housing lottery for new students accepted to Lund University. Information about the lottery can be found on their website, here.
AF Bostäder Lottery
For successful registration to the AF Bostäder lottery, you have to apply between 10 December 00:01 and 13 December 23:59.
Do not apply before the 10th December 2020! If you apply before 10th DScember you will not be registered for the lottery.
Accommodation in other cities
There are a number of other accommodation agencies that can help you to find housing in Lund, Malmö, Helsingborg or other locations in the region. You can find links to different accommodation agencies on BoPoolen. Please note that many of the websites that they link to are in Swedish, but if you contact the agencies via telephone or e-mail, they should be able to answer your questions in English.
The distance between Lund and some nearby cities is very short with the right train or bus. Many students who are studying full time in Lund, have their accommodation outside of the city. Do not miss the opportunity of searching for housing there as well. The following towns are quite close to Lund:
- Malmö (train: 10 min)
- Eslöv (train: 10 min)
- Kävlinge (train: 10 min)
- Landskrona (train: 15-20 min)
- Lomma (bus: 20 min)
- Höör (train: 20-25 min)
- Dalby (bus: 20-25 min)
- Södra Sandby (bus: 20-25 min)
- Staffanstorp (bus: 25 min)
- Helsingborg (train: 30 min)
Other, smaller towns are also quite easily reachable and might be able to offer you a suitable place to stay in. More information on Bopoolen website.
Don’t be a victim - how to avoid scammers
Unfortunately there are those who try to take advantage of a tough housing situation by defrauding housing applicants. Make sure to check out Bopoolen for information about this.
You can also use https://www.hitta.se/. This website has all people living in Sweden registered to their home addresses. If the address does not match the name of a landlord, approach that situation with very much care.
“Informal” housing possibilities
Your friends and colleagues might be able to offer temporary accommodation for you, if they have successfully secured a room for themselves in South Sweden. Searching for private landlords and rooms is easier if you can visit the places personally. Don’t hesitate to contact other students for help, since this might be a great possibility of having a secure place for some time as well as expanding your social network.
If you happen to find accommodation on your own or for any reason would decide not to come to Lund for the next semester, please notify us as soon as possible by email at luacc [at] service [dot] lu [dot] se
